Sponsors Day

December 13, 2006

The 2006 Nhulunbuy Regional Sports Fishing Club Sponsors Day was held last weekend in conditions judged as average due to the easterly swell and moderate winds that hung around from last week. Despite this the club still hit the water and sponsors and club members alike competed in a closely fought tournament in the entertaining conditions. Anglers fished Veronica, Bremmer, Higginson and East Bremmer Islands as well as Cape Arnhem chasing and finding a smorgasbord catch of Fingermark, Coral Trout and Mackerel mixed in with a few other toothy critters ! Be Prepared !

October 18, 2006

The crew from G3 Civil’s must be congratulated not only for the great job they have done building the new ramp and facilities at the Perkins Mud Wharf area, but for their forward planning when considering the new sea wall as a fishing location.

Several local anglers have already commented that they can’t wait to try out their fishing skills from this new local fishing platform the sea wall will provide. Large schools of bait fish and squid, as well as trevally, cod, diamond backed mullet and queenfish have been spotted from the top of the wall in recent days.

However, the G3 boys have thought of everything, got in early and staked their claim. With a little left over concrete from the recent ramp pour, and some electrical conduit off cuts, several strategically positioned rod holders have appeared along the new sea wall. Looks as if the G3 lads are prepared for the new fishing spot as well !!!

Visitors to the new sea wall are asked to follow signage and instructions as well as restrictions to some areas during the construction phase of the redevelopment.
