As part of the Nhulunbuy Regional Sports Fishing Clubs Annual Awards held last weekend, the Club member of the year was announced as recognition of hard work and contributions to activities of the Club. Bernice Cox was announced as the NRSFC Member of the Year for 2008.
Bernice has been a member of the NRSFC since arriving in town back in 2000, and although not a committee member, has managed the paperwork for competition entry forms, advertising of events, and attended to the numerous enquiries from current members and interested new comers to the club for the past 7 years. Bernice has also been a Corporate Sponsor for 6 years and is an active member in NRSFC’s fishing competitions. She has assisted at Club functions, fund raisers, junior fishing clinics and many Tournaments.

NRSFC 2008 Annual Awards

Last weekend the Nhulunbuy Regional Sports Fishing Club hosted the 2008 NRSFC Annual Awards and Christmas Party. The event was held at the Cat Shed and supported by the local Saints Football Club (Bar) and Gove Peninsular Surf Clubs Ladies Rowing Team (BBQ). Santa dropped by and gave all Club juniors a bag of sweets and a lure to go out on the holidays and catch dinner for mum and dad.

Community Junior Fishing Clinics

The Nhulunbuy Regional Sports Fishing Club (NRSFC) held the final Shimano Junior Fishing Clinics for 2008 last Saturday for Communities in the East Arnhem Land Region. Fishing clinics were held at Yirrakala and Gunugara (Ski Beach) on Drimmie Head last weekend, and were attended by very enthusiastic young anglers eager to participate in the NRSFC program initiative. Other clinics have been staged during 2008 at Darwin, Katherine and Groote in association with several other Game Fishing Clubs in the Northern Territory.
