Junior Anglers Wanted

October 22, 2008

An open invitation has been extended to all juniors to participate in the tournaments and competitions in October and November hosted by the Nhulunbuy Regional Sports Fishing Club. Last week the club released nominations for the NRSFC Family Fishing Competition to be held on the 1st and 2nd of November. The competition briefing for this competition will be from 8pm Thursday 30th October at the Walkabout Lodge. The competition is to cater for those not fishing the Walkabout Lodge John Jones Memorial Billfish Challenge and has a fabulous variety of prize categories for all anglers. Junior and ladies are especially catered for, and everyone is assured of a great competition.

Juniors and Ladies are also invited to participate in the Walkabout Lodge John Jones Memorial Billfish Challenge and the XXXX Gold Gove Game Classic. The club has also offered to enrol all juniors free of charge in the Game Fishing Association Junior Tournament if they enter these competitions. Not only does it enable them to be in the running for Club and NTGFA awards, but it puts them up against juniors from around Australia for tag and weighed fish. The NT has won 5 awards in the last 3 years and it is not impossible to win a National award from a place like Gove.

Watch out for  the windy conditions this weekend. We can only hope the weather boys are wrong and the conditions are kind to the entrants in the Walkabout Lodge John Jones Memorial Billfish Challenge. Don’t forget the briefing for this competition Thursday evening at 8pm at the Walkabout .

Few reports from last weekend, as the only information handed in was the good bait picked up off the sand spit on the Harbour last Saturday afternoon. Hope it’s put to good use this weekend.

Don’t forget to grab details of the current Tournament adds and weekly tide times in today’s Arafura Times.

Tight Lines.

Automatic Wash Down Bay Commissioned

October 15, 2008
Boat Wash Bay

Boat Wash Bay

The Nhulunbuy Regional Sports Fishing Club successfully commissioned their latest addition to the recreational fishing facility in Melville Bay this week with the opening of a 2 lane automatic spray system for trailer boats at the local boat ramp. The water wise system is card activated to ensure the water usage is kept to a minimum. Recreational anglers can now apply for their own card from the club and access this great environmentally friendly initiative. The system is simple to use. After launching and retrieving trailer boats, it is recommended to wash off the salt water to minimise the effect of corrosion on metal trailers. The fisho will now simply drive onto the concrete wash bay with his salty trailer in tow, Read the rest of this entry ?
