The past week has been a fisherman’s dream with perfect weather all week, clear blue water and fish just about everywhere. Most fisherman would have a story to tell after this great week on the water. Reports have been coming in of encounters with Marlin swimming around boats trying to steal your reef fish, to 20kg Mackerel smashing lures and Goldie’s and Red’s up to 7kg. One crew ventured down to the Three Hummocks for an overnighter and were rewarded with a fine catch of Sea Jack, and while trolling tackled huge GT’s on light gear. During one such fight after 25mins a Marlin swam up from down deep, had a look at the GT and swam to the boat to stir the emotions of a couple of amateur bill fisherman. With nothing rigged to cast out it was a case of dreaming and wishing one day for another chance. The Billfish were very active over the past week with a couple of Sailfish tagged and a Marlin lost at the boat before a tag could be placed. Mackerel were just about everywhere. Truant was the place to be to tackle these monster 20kg plus models, with calm conditions forecasted to remain with us we look forward to hearing more great catches. Read the rest of this entry ?

The first stage of the much anticipated repeater station has been installed on the Big Bromby Island. With traditional owners permission for this project to go ahead, ten keen club members travelled up early Saturday morning and took advantage of the calm conditions. Read the rest of this entry ?

NRSFC held its 2007 AGM last Thursday night, it was well attended with 45 members enjoying the free BBQ and refreshments. All club positions were declared vacant and nominations excepted. At the completion of business all positions were filled and the NRSFC are pleased to announce that Robert McDonald has excepted the role as President for the 2007-2008 season.
